Hi FG....

First off, congratulations on opening up your own shop, this must be a very exciting time for you.  I have to say i`ve enjoyed reading your "blabbering" (lol),  they are well written, and packed with valuable insight.

I have been researching and doing my D.D. on logistics and becoming a freight agent for the past couple of weeks and as such i appreciate folks like you who unselfishly offer others insight in a area which obviously you know very well...

I have found through my research this part of the industry to be very competitive, exciting, and stressful, but also can be a very rewarding career to those who succeed at it, sounds like sales to me,lol.  I am looking  forward to what i may stubble upon next and enjoying perhaps a new career in the not so distant future.

thanks again freight guy...

Tbug,

It is hard to get in to the freight business alltogether. What it sounds like you want to do is either Factor or or perform back office for truckers/brokers. Starting a factoring company would be a multi million dollar investment. Now, I have started multiple "niche" opportunities in the Freight Industry. A dispatching service offering to dispatch and bill for owner operators that worked out well, and a freight broker training business that is still doing well.

I suggest talking more in depth with someone in the industry to see what opportunities are out there and what they involve.

As for the questions about becoming a broker, it is VERY tough. That is why I switched my focus from brokering to training, recruiting, and web developing for the industry. I would be glad to hand out my 1.5 cents if you need it. Hope I can help.

These are a couple of my newer website. They might be able to help a little.

Hello Freightguy,

I don't think you were wrong to ask that question, maybe you could have chosen better words.  I also enjoy hearing about things people do and their reasons for doing them.

The industry is very tough, as I have learned the hard way by loosing everything a couple of years ago.  I also know how great it can be when you make the right contacts and the equipment and drivers are good.

I hope to speak with you one day soon.  Keep up the good work!

I wish everyone a Fantastic weekend!

Does anyone know of any freight brokers looking to hire new agents. I have little experience in the freight and trucking industry, but I have over 17 years of sales and customer relations experience. I recently finished a freight broker course and I worked for a small trucking company finding loads and dispatching so, I understand the fundamentals of how this industry works. Please, if anyone know of any brokers or might have suggestions on how I can find medium to large freight brokers with good credit and a solid reputation that would hire new broker agents please share!!! The knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

truckload..

i know of several companies that offer a fit.  I am surprised that you were not told how to or actually placed in a company. i am a successful freight broker who offers a training class on the weekends( as i actually move freight now and have been for years)

either way...i see good information on this thread. Freight Brokering is not as tough and rough as it was depicted by others on this thread. Rome is not built in a day, but if you are willing to put forth effort and have any previous experience you can make 5k sitting on your duff with little to no effort. My book of business is in excess of 20million now and it took a while.  A little luck but basically bangin the phones for numerous days on end until i got a yes then a few accounts later....success.

I am a professional trainer and have trained in multiple businesses. Car biz, Mortgage biz, Oil and Gas and now freight. If you have a passion for the phones and like people. I can show you how to make them say yes....i train over 200 people a month and i have numerous success stories a month.

lemme know...i will assist here for free. I pay a referral fee for my class.

I have driven OTR for approximatley 8 years, I have experience with Refer's as well. Now I am seriously considering becoming an Agent, to gain the knowledge, and experience I will need to eventually becoma a Broker. I have been conducting some research, and have found 1 site that actually offers job placement for Agents. I knw there are questions I will be asking, but is there anything particular that I need to be aware or, concerned about? Any help or advice is welcome.

-Thanks
