Thank you, Erin! I`m glad you like my site. I`ve worked extremely hard on it. And I really am awesome - at least that`s what my mother says!

Hello everyone. I don`t know if I`m posting this on the right website Forum or not. But if I`m not maybe someone can direct me to/on the right path.

I have two children ages 10 and 12. I am single mom and work fulltime. I also work at home with other small business. I have been learning alot about at home jobs and everything else. I have always dreamed of owning my own business, wether brick and morter and at home. I`m 41 years old and I have set myself a goad in about 2-5 years to have my very own brick and morter  business. I want to go into salon and cosignment. I have a calling for the two. I`m still in the learning phase of setting up appointments talking to other buisness owners/CPA`s and everything to go with it. I was told that since I`m black and female, that there are a lot of opportunities out there for me, including funding, grants and other free help. I do have money saved up for my start. I really just need more knowledge on the business side and still maintain a home. I work for the Government and I`m thinking about buy early retirement. I`m not going to quit work yet. At least not until I have established a working business. I can go on and on and on. I just need help. Dale can you help me out with some info or direct to the source?

Thanks.

Hello Jacquelynn:

You should definitely contact the Small Business Administration:  http://sba.gov

While the SBA does not specifically set aside funds for minorities, many of their certified lenders are particularly sensitive to the needs of minorities when assessing small business loan applications. For example, Wells Fargo has pledged $9 billion  to African American, Latino and Asian businesses over the next 5 years.

Also, if you have a Bank of America in your area, you should stop in and talk to them as well. They`re a very progressive bank, when it comes to small businesses, women  and minorities.

One more thing...you can greatly increase your odds of getting a government guaranteed loan if you have a solid and well thought out business plan. In that regard, SCORE is another website you should check out:

http://score.org

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
