what`s linkedIn doing that we should be doing at StartupNation? break it down!

I haven`t used LinkedIN all that much, but it allows you to build a network. I assume SUN could do the same thing--perhaps creating a multi-level Buddy list. For instance I add you to my Buddy list... and your buddies are added to my list?

Business and social networks, like LinkedIn, are based on the theory that any two people on earth can be joined by a chain that has no more than four intermediate people (you`ve probably heard of this as six degrees of separation). For example, you know someone, who knows someone, ... who knows the Queen of England.

Social networks allow you to find people with common interests by searching friends of your friends. Business networks allow you to find contacts, employment, etc by searching contacts of your contacts. LinkedIn does three degrees of separtation. From a small number of immediate contacts I can get referrals to over 28,500 people.
