The online IRS EIN application asks the question: "Where is your business physically located?"

I registered my LLC in Nevada as my business is primarily over the web.  However, I don`t live in the state of Nevada.  My business doesn`t really have a physical location.  Bizfilings.com acts as my registered agent in Nevada.  So do I put the Bizfilings.com RA address or do I put my home address?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

We would think that since it is asking for your physical location, it would be your home address. However, we are far from experts when it comes to this sort of thing. Someone with more knowledge hopefully will chime in.

We are located in Arizona, and we are an Arizona LLC. This saves us the troubles of filing in one state and being located in another. Not something we wanted to have to deal with.

Businesses do not exist in the "web".  Businesses may not have a storefront, but they don`t operate all by themselves.  Someone, somewhere is either entering data, uploading information, retrieving information, etc.  This person is not hanging out in cyberspace somewhere not touching a physical location.  This person is working in the location of the business, and for IRS purposes, most likely the physical location of the business as well.

What state will you file taxes in?

You can call the IRS number by the way ... I applied for my EIN over the phone in about 10 minutes. Ask them.

JP,
This is why you don`t Incorporate (LLC) in other states. Whatever you do, do not file that application if you`re in a different state "USE THE ADDRESS OF THE STATE" you incorporated in, I think you just shot yourself in the foot, you have to open a Virtual Office in Nevada, before you file for your EIN so you don`t have to Register your business as a Foreign Corporation in the State you are doing business in.

Here is what you need to do before you file for your EIN,
1. Have a Virtual Office in Nevada - There are companies that will do the following for you: give you a Phone number, a receptionist to answer the phone for you, open a bank account for you in Nevada, and they give you 8 hours a year to hold your minutes (meeting) I think the price for that is 1,500.00 a year...
2. Once you have done step number one, then apply for your EIN...

Why did you open a Nevada LLC, when you don`t live there.... you just complicated things for yourself and your Accountant
