I  am having a problem designing a page that has  a picture of the item with a desription underneath it .
The HTML editor I am using does not give me an option to have the items come up side by side, maybe 4 across.
It is setting them up one on top of the other going down, how can I set it up where I can have 4 items across with the pic and desription and then start a second row under that one?

Hey Jonese,

Thanks for the help, I do appriciate it. But would it be easier if you just type out the code for me so I can just cut and paste. I have several pictures and desriptions that are hyperlinked. I have that part figured out, I just can`t figure out how to do the side by side instead of each one ending up under the other.
You can send me an email if you wish to rdbenterprises@houston.rr.com

I have one major question ... given the fact that you are putting all this into HTML, what do you need to do if an item is temporarily out of stock, or you wish to run a "Special Sale" for a few days, or the item is discontinued? Are you saying that you need to go into the HTML coding and change ALL that? Yuck!!

I`m glad we use the data base we use. With asimple few clicks items are re-arranged, price changes made, items put in, items taken out, new discriptions added or edited. And all this can be done off-line ... then simply up-loaded in less than a minute.

I`m not trying to diminish your site, or take away from your hard work and effort. Just asking a few questions, as to how you address those issues.

If I recall, there was a thread regarding the benefit of having a web design team, utilizing the team approach of those that have strong skills that each of us lacks. I`m confident you`ll get it figured out ... or have someone help you.

Good luck with the HTML coding. I wish you the best.

Hey TJG,

I wish I had the chance to use some the better options out there to use, but when your on a strick budget and have to do things on your own, you do what you have to do to achieve the results you want, so basically, I am having to do things manually. Yes, it may be a pain in the as*, but if your dedicated enough, you just deal with it.

Thanks

twc,

Being on a strict budget doesn`t mean you can`t have a good looking web site with a nice feature like being able to add and delete items as you go.
Here maybe what you need is a shopping cart like this in place. http://www.boriquacity.com/catalog/index.php
this is an in-house design that is available to you that you can down load for free all you have to do is change the code to you needs. Give me a call and I can help you set it up on your web host, you must have web space and at least 1 my

sql database for you to use this shopping cart software.
If you need help call me I will be more than happy to help you.
But the best thing to do is if you are going to create tables for youpictures try using DIV tags. I like div Tags just for positioning reasons. But it`s true what jonese said create a table with 4 sections. So it would be like <table width="563" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
  <!--Start image table here--->
  <tr>
    <td width="272" height="168" valign="top"><!--image1 cell-->&nbsp;</td>
    <td width="291" valign="top"><!--image2 cell-->&nbsp;</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td height="172" valign="top"><!--Image 3 celll-->&nbsp;</td>
    <td valign="top"><!--image 4 cell-->&nbsp;</td>
  </tr>
</table>
<!----End Image table here---->

This can probably help you

Hey TJG, have you got a website to a company that provides this database?  Or was it created in house?  If this software is as good as you make it sound, there are plenty of people on StartupNation that could benefit from it.

looks like you got the answer you needed and don`t let a budget stop you from being "dynamic" there are many free things out there which provide great services etc.

Hey Edgar,

I got the code set up on the home page but I found out that 4 across is to much unless I can shrink the pics and text smaller or I just need to go to 3 across and then start the 2nd row under that one.
So what would I have to change to take out #4 or just move it down to the next line to start the 2nd row?

I would be glad to provide it ... I just don`t want folks to get their tail feathers all in a muss ... thinking that I`m "hawking" the data base. (Although I have to admit ... its darn good.)

Let me first mention that at yahoo, using a search term that encompasses everything about trucking ... truck stop ... it lists over 20,000,000 results. Lat month, Overture says that that term ... truck stop ... was searched over 10,500 times.

In less than 4 months of our new data base and search engine submission strategies ... GoTruckStop.com is only at position 14 !!

Thanks to our design team ... and our great shopping cart / data base.

Now to answer your question ... yes I can provide you with the folks that are part of the GoTruckStop.com design team.

You can visit DeskTop Carts at http://desktopcarts.com or email Walt Smith at walt@desktopcarts.com .

I hope this helps.
