Great site. I`m glad I found it.

I didn`t read anything about the grand prize. On the show American Inventor the grand prize was 1,000,000. Is the QVC grand prize that your product will be given a national audience? Does anyone know if they provide VC money or help with manufacturing?
Thankx

I actually was in negotiations with QVC once for a patented invention of mine. They found me at an inventor`s expo. I think it`s pretty rare of them to take on the development of a product, but I can tell you first-hand it`s been done because that`s what they wanted to do with me. We ended up not agreeing on things and the deal fell through unfortunately. Looking back, I kind of wish I had taken the chance with them - but I also had 2 other companies I was negotiating with. I ended up signing with one of them instead. A few months later, that fell through as well.  (Thank goodness I asked for some money up front!)

Nowadays, from what I understand, they want the product already in production and want to purchase at least $20k wholesale for the first order. You have to have the product to them in 3 months.

You can always mail them a sample and see what they say.

I was told that you should only expect a 2.5 to 3% return from their product.
Is that correct? It just seems very low. Even discouraging.

I`d say that you have been given bad information.  QVC has an idea of what they want to retail a product at.  They also require their typical margin (~50%).  Any leftover profit will go to the supplier.  For some products this may be 3% but for the vast majority of products this will be much higher.

Well, there are at least 2 of us, and I can`t believe with the same product!!!!!

Man, I have been trying since last April with Oprah and for about the last 3 months or so with Rachel Ray, checked into the Ellen show, but haven`t focused much time on that. I really wanted in on the O`s favorite things but couldn`t even get an answer back on anything and then wham, this came along.

Sounds like a great opportunity!  It`s things like this that give the rest of us hope!

I`ll be anxious to hear the outcome.

Hey Pam - There might be more dip people - who knows? At least we "know" each other!  Hopefully our appointments aren`t in the same hour. That might be overkill. Mine is 11-12 time block.

I know what you mean about PR to Oprah, Rachel, etc. You just have to keep trying.
