Hi all.  I am in the middle stages of starting a laundry pickup/delivery service in my town.   I plan to accept payment only online through credit cards or PayPal.

I am wondering how I will sync my accounting software and my merchant bank account.

Has anyone tried QuickBooks Merchant Services?

I want to be able to:

1) avoid having to do any manual data entry.  When a customer makes an order for laundry pickup, I want to charge him as soon as I weigh his order, and I would like my accounting software to immediately show that charge.

2) send a confirmation email immediately to the customer that their order was received.

Is this possible with other combinations of accounting software and merchant bank accounts other than all QuickBooks products?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

There are many ways to `link` your accounting software with your credit card processing platform.
QuickBooks offers one of them, but the QB module isn`t necessarily the best choice.  There are
many Quickbooks compatible plug-ins out there that MAY be better suited to your needs, both in terms of pricing and functionality.  I stress MAY because, like all processing system, there is no such thing as `one size fits all`.  The best solution for you is the one that fits  your unique situation and needs.  I`d be glad to have an email conversation with you and perhaps help you  look in the right direction.  Email amspcs@juno.com.

You Do NOT need to use Quickbooks Merchant Services to process Credit Cards. Yahoo has strategic alliances with many banks and can do all of the card processing for you for a fee. The assumption is that you would strictly be an online business and never need to do a cardswipe in person.

From what I understand, Yahoo orders arrive as an e-mail which you would need to retype into Quickbooks in order to generate the sale and invoice.

Well QuickBooks is really an amazing software which provides a lot of features suitable for any sort of business. Intuit is working really hard to make QuickBooks compatible with the user requirements. QuickBooks comes in different versions and one can opt for the version according to the usage. Now one more concept which is making QuickBooks more favorite is QuickBooks Hosting. Similarly QuickBooks Merchant Services makes it easy to transact and transfer the amount from one account to another account with ease. Means your credit card or even the paypal account can be synchronized with QuickBooks Accounts. So transaction becomes easier and saves a lot of time especially for an e-commerce business
