I agree with Melissa now that she mentions a good point in that the lightning bolt might be a little too electric and something softer and more sensual would be better in the logo design.  Now that I look at it again (had to get past the bright pink to really see it, LOL!) it looks more like a logo for an electronics company.  Looking forward to seeing what Melissa comes up with!

Me too

Ahh! I totally talked you out of the bolt, and I put it in anyway. I didn`t want to change your vision for your logo and you seemed attached to it. So, I created this logo with the bolt, and just attempted to `girl it up` a little! What are your thoughts on this?

And here`s a quick sample of your home page with the logo included, just cleaned up a little with graphics added. (make sure you enlarge the image to full size). Too much information tends to overwhelm people sometimes, so I added a  `more` link after the text so that people can choose to read on if they are interested. It`s a quick sample layout - nothing great, but I think just a little more appealing with some graphics.

Opinions?

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

I absolutly love it!!!

It jumps off of the screen at you.  And it almost looks like the lightning bold has a feminine shape.  And I love the colors.  I can`t wait until my wife see`s this.  I told her we had a new design coming and she is looking forward to it too.

I love the new logo, and one day when this business is a success I will be able to pay what it was worth.  In the meantime, the least I can do is give you credit for the design on my site, if that is cool with you.

The webdesign you did looks great too.  It`s amazing the difference between a professional (you) and the amature (you know who).  Anyway, I think I have decided to give my next design a go with DotNetNuke thanks to DesignCAddy.  I have been pretty impressed with what I have seen from it so far.  Hopefully I can find a template there somewhat close to your design.  I know what I am going to be doing this weekend.  I plan to have something functional by Monday.

Anyway, thanks to all the fantastic input from everyone, including Christina who gave me some feedback via PM.

Look forward to working with everyone here.

Dan

GREAT JOB MELISSA!!!!!  The new logo looks fantastic and you made the bolt work!  I am very impressed!  The new logo is definitely softer, more refined yet gets your attention and draws you in!  The pinks and purples look great together and the new front page looks much more professional and trustworthy!  Well done!

Thanks Beth! I struggled with the lightening bolt. I don`t like to sway people from what they feel strongly about, and Dan and his wife had been working on this concept for a long time. I actually ended up liking it, and after adding the softer script font for `Sensations` I think it took the hard edge look away.

Dan - don`t worry about the credit - this one is on the house. I normally charge $100 for logo designs - but with that you`d receive the original artwork in high resolution (necessary for print purposes) and a free business card design as well. I`d be happy to work on something for someone else! I`m actually funding my craft company business with any funds I receive doing graphic/web design.

If anyone needs artwork/graphics or websites done, just send me a message or email me at storybookstudioart@yahoo.com.

Now this is the type of "team work" that I was talking about when Beth was struggling with her original logo.

And what was it that Dan said about the differance between a "professionally designed" web site and a do-it-yourselfer?

Best of luck Dan with the new design and logo ....

May I make an un-solicited suggestion ...??

Go out and have 1 or 2 yard sales, pick-up a quick part-time job delivering pizzas .. or whatever ... and save the money to have a "professionally designed web site.

Because ...

Paying too much and paying too little are both poor business decisions. If you pay too much for something, the thing that you have lost is the excess money.

If you pay too little for something, then you have lost two things. The money you spent and the opportunities that you have lost by not having what you truly needed.

So if you simply go out and budget for what you truly needed in the first place ... you will never have wasted any dollars.

Good luck.  Let me know when the DNN site is ready for "prime time".  I would like to see it.
