I would say go to www.fiverr.com and find someone that can design you a really nice banner. 

I like the current banner but I think it can be a lot nicer.

 

Also, I would say offer some kind of a bribe on the homepage to get people to give you their email.  That way you can follow up with them and show them your progress.
