Since everybody loved my Alexander the Great story so much I thought I`d follow up this cool article about how Lincoln`s reinstatement of George McClellan turned the tide on the Confederate army and helped the Union army win the civil war.

An inspirational tale of leadership.  Hope it inspires entrepreneurs like it inspired me.

There was only one general with the ability to work such a miracle. That was General George McClellan. He had trained the men for combat and they admired him. But neither the war department nor the rest of the cabinet members saw this connection. Only president Abraham Lincoln recognized Gen. McLellan`s leadership skills.

Why was McClellen fired? How come the War Department didn`t want him? What did Lincoln "see" that nobody else saw?

"And this, in a way, was the turning point of the war. ... No one could ever quite explain how it happened. But whatever it was, it gave president Lincoln and the north what was needed. And history was forever changed because of it."

How does this in any way explain leadership?

I put Abraham Lincoln as a reference in what success means in the notable "Model for Failure "Post, I believe he is one of the best success`s there ever. Talk about never giving up, this man went through so much personally and professionaly i may name a child after him....that is if I have another child and it is a boy!

Leadership does include recognition of others.

Lincoln makes Bush look like a busboy at a cafeteria. Then again, Bush does that all by himself.

Can you imagine all the slave owners after the Emancipation Proclamation, unlocking their slaves and setting them free? `Ok, I`m gonna unlock you now and you don`t have to work for free anymore and have me violate your daughters, but, um, we`re still cool, right?".

That quote should be attributed to Thomas Jefferson.
