Another Virus Hoax going Around

You`ll probably get an email, if you haven`t already, warning you about the "postcard" virus problem. It purports to be an email about a postcard, with an attached image file. If you open the image, it`ll wipe out your hard drive.

It`s a hoax, but unfortunately plays off a real problem with a similar name. Here`s the back story:

Thanks for sharing.... I often get the warning emails about viruses. Most cases I delete all unknown sources.

I often, won`t even open an email that I don`t know where it`s from.  I would never open an attachment in an unknown email.  Yes, we do have to be careful.

I've never (that I know of) been the victim of a legit email spread virus, but know others who have.  And the use of postcards and embedded interactive posing gif files is seemingly everywhere (I hate those things).

 

In the meantime make sure you have valid up to date antispyware installed and active.  Don't forget your tablet and phone too (including these same postcard virus items).  Hoax or not.
