Hi Guys!

Just wanted to officially say hello, as I have been in and out of the forums a few times over the past couple of months, but as I get further in my planning and new business development, I find myself coming back more often now, so I thought I should say hello.  I also second the notion for a "welcome" area to be added, I think that would be a nice feature.

I`ve been refining my business idea for about a year now, and we started some development within the past few months.  We are now building site infrastructure as our business will be based on our web application, but hopefully things will go smoothly enough that we can launch sometime by next spring or summer.  More to come on the business later, but I just wanted to say hello and Happy Hlidays!!!

Hey there Mike :-)
This is definitely an interesting site, and different from many other types of forums. What`s your business idea?

Thanks for the welcome!  I am from Memphis and I actually found out about SUN through the "Costco Connection" magazine a few months back.  I am such a big believer in small businesses, great ideas, the American Dream, etc., and I read that article with a lot of enthusiasm.  It just so happened to coincide while I was in my early stages of planning for this business, so I could not wait to log on and see what was out here.  As I continue to progress with my partner in development, I am stopping by SUN on a daily basis now!  And I have been addicted to all sorts of podcasts since they first started, so I was excited to listen to the SUNcast and now it is in my regular rotation!

Anyway, I believe I received all my entrepreneur genes from my dad, who owned his own side business that I was able to assist with growing up, and his father owned a small grocery store in a small town across the street from the local school.  So, I felt right at home when I found SUN and people who were at all stages of their business development.

As far as the business goes, we are building a "hub" type of web application specifically designed for contract retail representatives.  I will be able to go into much more detail when it launches, but have to be somewhat guarded at this point.  Basically, we are filling a void that exists today for a large population that has very limited options right now.  More to come soon!

Thanks, I look forward to meeting several more as we help each other start it up and keep it running smooth!
Mike

I wonder if your idea will be database intensive? If so, we`ve had a thread recently, about how to find a good server. It was posted by the same Andrew1 who`s developing another database-intensive business. He wanted to know about choosing a good hosting service, as well.

Awesome, thank you Craig, I will read through that information.  It will be database intensive, we are just finishing building that portion and are now trying to find a good programmer here locally to tie it all together.
