I am thinking about animating my cartoon characters, but have no idea who to contact...is there anyone here who can point me towards a production company?  Thanks!

What do you want to animate them for?

Hey Steve,  One of the challenges I face is getting my character`s personalities communicated to the consumer...I am thinking that finding some way to animate them and produce a story with their using their personalities would be a good way to solve the challenge.  Does that make any sense?

Sure, it can be a good idea to have characters and stories to help build/sell a brand.  I took a quick look at your golf site and I guess I don`t understand what you would be using the animations for.  Would you just be posting them on your site?

Anyway, I don`t know enough about small animation studios or who they are.  I used to be an animator for Nickelodeon but I`ve been out of that industry for a while now.  My experience is only limited to the big Hollywood studios.  So I`m sorry that I don`t know where to point you.

I don`t know how much you know about animation or not, but the process is quite laborious and time-consuming.  I suggest searching for Flash animators who do character work.

Another thing you might consider which would be less expensive is creating comic strips.  You could still build personalities and tell stories.  The format of strips are more universal because they can be on paper or web.  And static images are easier for people to share.  Just a thought, then again, I`m in the comic strip business.  :)

Hi Scuffy,

You should try Elance;  Had a project similar to yours,  and posted it on elance (www.elance.com). depending on the complexity of the animation (number of characters, length, wether you need synchronization with a voice-over or not )  you could have something that really looks great at a very reasonable price, especially as Campsteve suggested, you decide to go with Flash. Even if this is something u are unfamiliar with, just describe what you have in mind/need and you will have animators that will bid on your project and you will be able to take it from there. From my previous experience u should expect anything from 500-1000USD per 5mn animation. Best of luck.
cheers. Magda

Thank you for your continued input.  I am sort of thinking of having a sitcom something on the line of the Simpsons...if you are familiar with that program.  A cartoon strip is also of interest...but I have no expertise on that and would have no idea how to go about creating a cartoon strip.  I do however like that concept.

Hi Magda,

Thank you for your input too!  I will take a look at Elance.  If you note the post to CampSteve I am thinking of having a cartoon sitcom kind of format...I know it is a huge undertaking and it may be far too large for me to consider.  But, I am going to keep pushing.

Hello Scruffy,
I`d like to suggest Ben Lane who was an animator for the Simpon`s. I think his work is excellent. Here`s his website:

Good luck!

Animation can also be created using a more traditional process on a computer. Instead of creating animation frames using modeling programs or ink and paper, artists draw two-dimensional frames using image editing programs. The resulting animation has the appearance of being hand-created, but can be made with the efficiency of computer animation.
