The ADA represents `force to obtain charity`, James? Are you nuts?

Yes, the entire House and the Senate held everyone hostage while they passed this Landmark legislation. It`s a wonder we`re even still a country, what with all of the charity and all. (ever tried to buy groceries on $135 a month? I would hardly call that charity, yet that`s what handicapped single people get. And darn, they aren`t even allowed to use that to buy beer.)

Call it what you will: conservative, liberal, libertarian, or just plain heartless, as James has so eloquently pointed out. I assume you didn`t attend a state college for your undergrad, masters, PhD, or law school, right James?

Because as we all know, that would be a form of charity, accepting money from the state, now, wouldn`t it.

I rest my case. Let he who is without any form of state support cast the first stone.

The ADA, and other laws such as the ones you mention, require that one party benefit the other party under threat of force [fines, imprisonment, etc] and not because it is done voluntarily as an exchange of adequate values.  That`s forced charity - also known as theft.  The "well everybody else does it" defense doesn`t change anything.

"it`s ok for them to steal from you cause, heck, you stole from them."  that may be true and it almost certainly is - but it does not make anything legitimate.

"Let he who is without any form of state support cast the first stone."

Brilliant point!

James raises a really good point though. Force doesn`t work and he is quite right to call it tyranny. But there are many forms of tyranny.

"Since nobody is completely innocent, we are all justified in defending, continuing and expanding an immoral system where people are forced to give money and other benefits away under penalty of law."  Wow.
