Yes, you`re right about Alexa.  I was looking for something (anything) to show my efforts were doing something. That thrilled me for the day and I wanted to share it. (The thrill has long since worn off ).   I`ve got a long way to go.

Learning good time management skills, especially for someone like me who is not used to working at home, is a must.  The book  is excellent (Thanks, Cartess). You won`t be sorry you ordered it.  I got mine on Amazon, used, for about $7.

I had no intention of killing your party. I`m just less than enthused about Alexa. I think I`m around 500,000 right now. I was in the 200s for a long time, with a burst as high as 80,000 or so, when I had far less traffic.

I suspect that the group of people with Alexa toolbars is not a representative one. A very techie crowd, most likely. Buy an ad on slashdot.

You do have a traffic stats program, don`t you? That`s the real way to know business is growing. That and sales. I don`t sell anything right now, but I focus intently on the growth of the panel that provides reliability info on their cars.

Back when I was doing great on Alexa I was overjoyed whenever more than 20 cars were added to the panel in a 24-hour period. These days, I`m upset if the number is under 20, or even under 30.

You didn`t kill the party.  Can`t spend too much time celebrating yesterday`s news. I do have Web stats, but I`m usually disappointed in my numbers.  I have pretty high expectations though!

Mkaresh,

I am checking in to slashdot.  When I looked at the site, I wasn`t sure if that would be an appropriate place to advertise lingerie.  I will see what kind of information they send.   Thanks for the idea.

I see what you mean about Alexa now.  My traffic has increase dramatically and my numbers are showing just the opposite with Alexa.  I see they are checking out my site, but not refecting the change accurately.  I can see now why you are less enthused.

Cartess - That book sounds really helpful based on the reviews.  Thanks.
