I recently had a discussion with a small business consultant who suggested making a list of like-minded celebs and sending them a free product sample.  I want to do this, but am not sure about how I would get the contact information for their publicist to send them the free sample.

Have any other Start-uppers done this before? Any advice?

Many Thanks!

Melanie

Hi Synergy Man,

There are services that will help place your product with specific celebrities. But if you can't afford their fees, try conducting a search online for the celebrity's agent or publicist. Actors are usually listed with the Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Association and/or the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences with their agent's contact information.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Thank you!  I did search and found a service called Contact Any Celebrity that list the best contact information (usually agent, publicist or manager).

The best way to get this done is through their publicists. You can usually find the information somewhere online. The only problem is many times they get hundreds of products pitched to them weekly so getting through to even have your product looked at will be tough. Many times companies will hire firms that specialize in celebrity branding and endorsements who charge a fee per celebrity to make sure the product gets tried out and even more to make sure it gets placed such as wearing it in public (many t-shirt companies pay celebrities if their picture is taken by paparazzi in their tshirts, etc). You can always try to do what you were saying but just wanted to let you know if you don't have a huge budget I don't want you to waste your products by sending them away but I guess it is always worth a shot.

Another way could be to send your product to radio or television presenters and disc jockeys, if they like your product they will often tell their audience about it. They could even tell their celebrity friends about it, then they will come to you.

Good luck in 2010
