Hello all,
I`ve been listening to the podcasts and absorbing info from the articles a heck of a lot lately. I`m planning on launching an online portrait studio. As an artist myself, I would love to be able to start this business in order to give more artistss some fairly steady work. However, I`m not able to actually hire them as employees. I am simply unable to do this as a potential startup.
Right now, I`m in the process of figuring out the best way to hire these artists. I have been researching this subject on this site, and I have done a small amount of research @ www.bizfilings.com and www.legalzoom.com, but so far I`ve not had much success in finding out what I need to know about regarding how to hire artists under a freelance and/or a work for hire contract.
Theoretically, I would like to commission them to do pictures for me on a repetitive and long term basis. For instance, I would know in advance that I would need a certain amount of portraits from them on a given month and/or quarter. I would like to set it up whereas I would own the pictures` digitial, print, and re-print rights----while allowing the artists to retain ownership of their originals. Is this even possible in the digital age?
I know that ultimately that I`ll need to possibly hire a lawyer to iron out the specifics, but until I`m actually far enough along whereas I`m ready to do that, my questions to the Startup Nation community are:

2. Also, can anybody point me to a link where I can see some examples of such a contract (especially ones that indicate that the artist will be responsible for paying his own tax deductions rather than me)?
