I am really strapped financially, but wonder the following.  Would it severely limit my sales if initially I only had online shopping with paypal and without a call center for people to order by phone?  I was planning to add that around late October.

Is your the product the kind of thing that people want to order online or by phone?

You can set up a really nice site with PayPal and not require PayPal accounts. There`s one right here for an example.

It would limit you, but not severely.

Here`s a cool and useful site ScrapBizKim turned us onto: PrestoSell.com.

We also are strapped for cash, big-time. So we can only do what we can do. Yes, of course we`re losing possible sales. We know that. But on the other hand, we`re getting a lot of sales even with our limitations. We also know that when we get more money, we can rapidly expand the business and the sales.

So although we`re limited, we`re highly optimistic based on the success we`re having *despite* those limitations. If the word "severe" were applied, it would be to our lack of capital, not the tools we`re using.

Yes, I love Prestostore.com (or prestosell or prestocart - they`re all the same company).  Very easy to set up with a low cost.

I think most people are so internet savvy that they don`t really need to order by phone UNLESS your product is pointed at the over 50 age group.  I believe th older the target audience, the less likely they are to shop on the internet - generally speaking.  If you`re selling geriatric products, then phone shopping will probably be neccessary.

My products are skin and hair care, with bath and body to be added soon, so

YOu and I will check out the links.

Hi nhgnikole,

Wow, you did a nice job designing that site. I especially liked how you were able to use the same page template for the PayPal shopping cart and checkout. How did you do that?

Magic. (I wrote my own cart because I didn`t like anyone else`s.)

Claddagh - I like your operating methods. Good job! Maybe you can start a new post in the introductions forum and tell us about your methods for publishing ... it`s a question that comes up often here on SuN!

Too few people today understand the importance of magic in e-commerce. I applaud Nikole for standing firm, and letting the world know that magic is, in fact, an important part of computers, application development, and Web businesses. And, without necessarily breaking the code and giving away secrets!

Hi nhgnikole,

First of all, I love your answer "magic." Secondly, I took your advice and posted an introduction and included our operating methods. (introductions forum)

Craig, you are absolutely correct in your observation that too few people understand the importance of magic in e-commerce. I just want to say that I am very happy to be member here in SuN!

PayPal has a great developers center that will allow you to place simple code on your site to create the image of a shopping cart.  If you`re strapped for cash and you don`t have a lot of time for the administrative overhead of a 3rd party shopping cart, Pay Pal is the way to go.

People won`t have to sign up and they can pay with credit cards if they so desire.
