I`ve thinking about an idea related to advertising and it goes like something like,very draft at this point:
Following the almost "free" cost of information on the web where basically consumers are getting information for free, I thought why not have a similar approach with something more tangible, like T-shirts. Yes, give them away for free (perhaps exluding delivery charges). The cost of producing the T-shirts would be covered through advertising from companies interested in placing their brand on every T-shirt.
The T-shirt production would be outsourced, and the entire promotion and delivery operations managed by my company. The T-shirts could be made of organic cotton and produced in "greener" ways, this would be part of the marketing message to consumers. To the companies advertising on the T-shirts, a % of the profits would be donated for social projects in the US or abroad. Companies could benefit from associating themselves with something that is being given away almost free.
Now I`m still going through a lot of brainstorming about the business model, perhaps there is none !subscription based ? free or almost free ? to whom should I be marketing these T-shirts, how can this be a sustainable business, what is the message to the companies I need to get engaged in sponsoring the production of the T-shirts.
Thanks for any thoughts---you can also be direct and just say this is all very stupid.
