Hello my friends. An initial thanks for any responses received.

 

Now, here`s my issue. I want to create and sell T-Shirts online based around movies, and take the quotes from the movies and put them on the shirts. The problem is, If I`m not mistaken, this is 3rd Party copyright infringement, and permission is needed before this can take place, if not royalty sharing.

 

Now, I can`t imagine a reason why permission would be denied. Everything is tasteful, and if anything, by selling these shirts, I would be helping to promote these movies, thereby helping the 3rd Party.

 

So, how should I go about this? Should I just do it, start selling the shirts and wait for either nothing or something bad to happen? And at this point, it would only be worthwhile for them to get on board with some royalty sharing, (does anybody know what is standard % in such a situation)? Or should I do it and just know that no major movie corporations care about prosecuting a guy and his dinky online T-Shirt store raking in a few bucks.

 

Or, should I get in contact with whoever owns each of these copyrights (I take it the movie companies that distribute them), and ask for permission (would their have to be a signed agreement in place?).

 

As you can see, I`m a newcomer to these issues, and the many different options for me to take, and the possibilities and repurcussions that will arrive from the options. I know there`s a way to make this happen, and make it happen the right way, and that`s why I hope you guys can help me find it.
