I am new to this site, hope I am doing this right.... I might be crazy for starting a Real Estate related business right now, but I feel like now is the time to do it. If I can establish myself in this down market, then once the economy picks up I will have much more of the market share then others who are jumping in when the times are better.

I welcome any thoughts or ideas anyone may have or any general discussions. Ultimately I am looking to connect up with like minded people on here, so it's all good.

I am starting a Real Estate Investing Seminar business here in Southern California. The idea is to get investors to attend my events (For a small fee) and introduce them to other products suh as property, smaller educational materials and networking opportunities. The properties are where I will make the bigger money as selling investments nets me the biggest return.

I am planning on expanding these clubs to cover all the major cities of California and then expand from there.

This business has been done before and there are plenty of better well known people in the industry who are doing events like these. But I see my main opportunity being in branding the company. Other seminar leaders in the industry are either in a specific location or are selling strictly Educational materials (Like Trump Does). I am more focused on developing a true investor networking meeting set up rather then selling educational material.

Any thoughts?

I think if you can hold on till RE comes back it is a great investment. You should also diversify to reduce the risk of a particular industry. Here is a great private membership that has members who are able to invest in pre IPO companies at a substantially reduced stock price because the company brings selected companies public. And you can invest in as little as $2500 or as much as $1mm. It is a great private members club. They have 4-6 yearly opportunities for their members.

According to me Real Estate Investment can be considered as one type of future investment and again with high investment return. And it can be Residential or Commercial. Real Estate business is still growing.
