With a franchise business, the chances of success are much higher. According to the US Department of Commerce, after completing a 7 year study, over 90% of franchises are still trading profitably. So why am I saying that a franchise business might not be right for you?

A franchise is not right for you if:

1- You are the type of person who does not like following guidelines
2- You believe that you know better then everybody else
3- You can’t accept other people’s advice
4- You want to change the look and feel of the product
5- You want to do things your way
6- You expect others to take responsibility
7- You don’t believe in hard work
8- You are aggressive and can’t control your temper
9- You are not ready for commitment
10- You can’t work with people

Well, thanks for the info! You know, these posts with top 10 reasons followed by the poster as the solution are frankly blatant advertising. And who says these are the golden rules of franchising, anyway? `Can`t work with people`? That pretty much sums up failure in any business, franchise or not.

Yes, I would have to say that this list is a little different than I would do. I would change the list to something more like this myself.....

-You are the type of person who does not like following directions from others
-You cannot accept constructive criticism
-You believe that your way is the best in business
- You want to change the look and feel of the product
- You want to do things your way
- You don`t want a partnership (a franchise feels like one)
- You are not ready for commitment (10 yr generally)
- You can’t work with people
- You don`t want to share your monthly financials

Owning a franchise is very different than owning your very own business. You do have to answer to the franchisor in many instances. Make sure that you are the type that can do that. If not, that is OK. Franchising is not for everyone!!
Best of luck!
