I shared this business idea I had from another city. I want to contract them to basically create my website I had in mind. It's not an easy website. It has different layers and well...basically it's gonna have a filtered search with map, customer reviews and online booking solution for these businesses. I asked them roughly how much would it cost to get this going, and they quoted me for $800 an hour. This agency is a group of 4. Is this right? I'm not sure if I am ready to go around shopping my idea to other agencies because I'm afraid of someone stealing it really.

Maybe I should have them sign NDA before chatting, but I don't want to have to do this with every single person I throw my ideas at.

Just to make sure, They want $800 per hour to build your website?

First, I would recommend you get a fixed price for them, because a website can take hours depending on the website.

Second: you can still shop around without giving your website idea. You can just say I want to build a website like facebook, without telling them your idea.

I am currently a student at Temple University and there are students that can get you a nice website for less than $1,000. You will not get the same quality and they are not as flexible given they go to school, but that’s a decision you have to make.

My recommendation would be that you hire a student, but before you speak about your idea, get a confidentially agreement. Also, if you decide to leave your current agency, before telling them you are leaving, get a confidentially agreement from them as well.

Good luck!
