Hello All,

I am looking for some advice and comments, but let me first give you some back ground information. At the age of 21 I started my own printing company, 15 years later I am fortunate enough to semi retire.
My main concern is going INSANE once I sell my business.
I am someone who likes to keep busy.
So after I finish the small projects around the house what then?
My wife and I  plan on taking more vacations and weekend getaways but that still leaves a lot of time.
I was thinking of starting some kind of online or home based business.
Is there any "REAL"  home based business out there?
I am a new member and this is my first post.

Any comments and advice would be great.
Thanks
JohnCorey

REAL?

With technology today you can run a lot of businesses from home or from
multiple homes (or while on the road).

It might be best to leverage the industry knowledge you already have.

Or you can get into a completely new area if you do not mind starting
from the bottom. What you do not know you do not know is what can bite
you if you are used to being on top of your game in a specific sector.

Another way to think of this is to focus on your interests and hobbies.
There could be business opportunities that are complementary.

You could do something with investments or business investing (angel
investor in your sector or other sectors). You could do things with real
estate if you like hands-on projects.

You might write a hou-to book targeting business owners in your sector.
A way to capture what you know and share it with others in your sector.

Any hints to what would get your interest?

Seems to me there are three very broad categories for "real" businesses, home or otherwise:
  • Make something and sell it,
  • Buy or get something from somewhere and sell it,
  • Do something as a service and sell it.
I think "real business" is a distraction, and that your concern is the same as anyone who retires. It doesn`t matter that you`re 35 or 65, you`re contemplating basically two choices:
  1. Stop working for money completely, or
  2. Continue working for money.
Whatever you do is going to be real. A difference is whether or not you`re getting paid. That`s the difference between a professional and an amateur---getting paid. It`s NOT the skill level, competency level, or the "reality" of what they`re doing.

I am 67 years old and retired from my own business also...unfoturntely I invested in a business expansion and lost quite a bit of savings, so not only did I need to do something with my time but also keep some income flowing.

I researched over 100 different home based businesses and finally found one with good residual income, is well established, does business in over 60 countries and is showing evidence of still growing. You can get more info on my personal website. Levels2Success.info
