Hugh,  Sounds like you have had some great opportunities and made the best of them.

I am not certain you can help me, but perhaps someone else out there can.  I have developed a new product that addresses the growing financial crisis of middle and low income families.  My product has had great responses from those in financial education agencies, but they are all non-profits.  Is there a way to get a large industry to buy my product to have available for the smaller non-profits that serve those in financial crises?

Hi, Joy! You want to position yourself as the EXPERT in working with helping people in the category. The media is looking for EXPERTS all the time. You want to first start off with your local media and then work up to being a consultant to say CNN. Develop a web site that has interviews with you in both print and on video. Get on local TV and buy the rights to that interview and then get it on the Net on YouTube and GoogleVideo in your category. One of my goals to give back to society is to team up with others, create a Trust and have that trust create communities of modular homes and much much moreto bring the poor out of poverty and bring entreprenuership to the masses.  That is one project I hope to have a business plan ready for in the next six months.  As a society, we have to work to eradicate poverty, create a stronger middle and upper middle class and I hope to be a part of that effort within the next year or so.   It is just a matter of finding the right people to work with, including investors, get the plan completed, and get grants from governments etc... to make it all happen, while still seeing a profit margin.  If anyone is interested in being a part of it, let me know.  

Hi, Katt! This is AMAZING! Check out http://www.7thaven.org where you will see that my partner Dr. Tim and I have pledged to build 7,000,000 homes for the homeless in the next 7 years. We have found a way to build complete with utilities for under $25,000. We currently have the Construction Management Dept of Western Carolina University building one of our geodesic corrugated cardboard dome homes that will then be covered with the Grancrete mentioned at the web site.

We have a Hollywood fashion designer and several high profile multi-millionaires that are going to work with us. I think we have a good shot for the Oprah Show.

It is nice to hear some other socially conscious business people tell about their goals.   My product was created to help foster youth and other folks in debt help manage their money.   I am still working on pulling that together.

I`m looking at starting a new nonprofit Center that would become a database for nonprofits that need skills, talents and the life long experiences of people that have been there and done it!
