I think you can do it, but yes you will have to use a template (don`t try to design it yourself!) and yes you will lack originality and branding.

The real question is - why make this so hard on yourself?

There are many open source "free" website design software like joomla that can create a professional website but has a learning curve, it takes time to understand it. There are many factors that come into play if you want a successful website, which means you need to do search engine optimization and validate your codes.

As an experienced web designer and seo analyst, I would advice you to seek professional seo web design help.
