Hi everybody.

My business partner and I are about to go live with our new training course about using Joomla to create websites. But before we start the marketing, we`re looking for some more feedback from test users and perhaps some testimonials.

So...if any of you are interested in learning how to use Joomla to create websites, we`d love to have you come test it out. url: www.simplesubjects.com/webdesign

As an aside, the only reason we have the price set to $1 instead of free is that we`re also looking for feedback on our payment process, which would obviously be circumvented if the price were $0.

Hope this ends up being helpful for those of you who are interested. And thanks ahead of time for the feedback. :-)

-Mike

Thank you Mike,
Just signed up and saw Intro. I have domains on GoDaddy with Website Tonite running already. Do I need to delete those before I install Joomla using Cyberduck? Thanks.

Hi Carlos.

I`m not familiar with Website Tonite. That said, you can`t have two sites at the same location.
In other words, to install Joomla at www.yoursite.com, you will need to not already have another site built at that location.

On the other hand, if you wanted to keep what you have now, you could do something like install Joomla to www.yoursite.com/something.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Mike,

I just signed up for your test membership and have two questions.

How long does the membership last? (I`m thinking that it might take me a while to get through the lessons)

Are you (or were you) a member of Teaching Sells?

Thanks.

Hi Sheryl.

There`s no expiration. You`ll have access to the content for as long as you want. So feel free to move along at your own pace.

And yes, I signed up for Teaching Sells very quickly. I ended up tearing through the material in a hurry (about 48 hours), and then canceled my membership after I`d finished with everything. That said, I`m pretty sure I`m going to end up re-signing up soon now that they`ve added a lot of new content I`m told.

Thanks ahead of time for testing out our course. :-)

I just signed up too.  This is right on time for me because my website is now on Joomla and I`m in the process of learning how to use it.

Thanks!

I never did like the cookie-cutter approach that you get from Website Tonight, so I am building my new site from Wordpress (using a lot of static pages).

You do not need to remove anything from your current site.  (I assume that you`re hosting on GoDaddy).

When you install Joomla (or Wordpress) the installation puts a new `index.php` or `index.htm` in your root directory.  Before you install a new website platform you may want to rename the start file to `wt-index` so that you can go to the old Website Tonight pages later.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the offer. I`m planning to sign up soon, but I wanted to ask a question first.

I`ve heard that the way Joomla organizes content can be pretty tricky. Does the course explain good ways to set everything up so  that it makes sense?

Thanks! I`m looking forward to learning!

Hi Jimmy.

Great question. As you`ve heard, Joomla has a built-in structure for organizing articles/content. At first it may not appear very intuitive, but after working with it for a little bit, I think you`ll find that it`s quite helpful actually. (And yes, we cover it in our course.)

Also just as an fyi, we`re probably going to be launching very soon (this weekend hopefully). So I`d suggest signing up now if you don`t want to pay the full price. (And your membership won`t expire or anything, so there isn`t really any advantage to waiting.)

Hope you enjoy the course.
-Mike

PS: I have to ask. Where are you from such that you refer to it as beantown? :-)
