Hi Robert, I am thinking about using my domain name also as DBA name, but if someone else legally has that same name registered do you know if that would be a problem thx

Ummmm....I am going to say yes it COULD be a problem.  Does someone else have the name Trademarked? Is someone else already using it?  If I were you I would check into this before I started setting up on someone elses turf.

Now for my question.  Does anyone KNOW if one LLC can own intrests in another LLC?  As far as taxation I would guess the money would just flow through both LLCs to the members, but I would like a definate answer.

Thanks.

LegalZoom.com has helped me with some of this kind of paperwork...but I have a "real" attorney and accountant in my stable.

Robert, try this:

findlaw.com
I just went on the site - go to starting up a business, it takes you to LLC
page (just follow prompts). There are different links you can choose from

Don`t go through an attorney. I can form your corp. or LLC.  Half the times the job is incomplete and come tax return time you`ll end up losing because of it.  I can do it all. In any state.  Once you form the corporation then you can prepare the DBA. This is the other problem you may face, is which comes first, what is the correct order etc. Email me I KNOW I CAN HELP YOU!!!

What`s your purpose for forming an LLC?  Talk to a trusted Certified Financial Plannner or CPA to find out if you need one.  If your business is a solo gig you may not need to incorporate.

Be sure to get your operation agreement signed and done. this is a very important step when forming your LLC. And please go see a local accountant to make sure you maximize on the tax benefits of operating as an LLC.

I would never do businesses or get into a contract without my attorney or CPA reviewing it. check out CPAdirectory.com to get in contact with a local accountant.

here is a link to a free operating agreement if you need it. http://www.myllc.com/llc-for-dummies.aspx

best of luck with your business! congratulationS!
