When dealing with such critical aspects of your business, and knowing there are many risks in business--but some are unnecessary--we always recommend "going with the pros" - as in, going with the professionals. Get a great attorney, get a great accountant, get a great insurance agent, get a great banker. You might want to check out Step 4 of our 10 Steps process, too.

gags, congrats XD  watergal, thanks for sharing your experience ^_^

I talked with two co-workers on the same question about having an attorney file a LLC.  One important reason is to establish a relationship with the attorney.  Who knows as time goes by with your business, something happens and you need an attorney to consult.

When I’m ready to file, I’m going to have an attorney file.  I going to pay more, but I established a relationship with an attorney.

Congratulations!  I formed my LLC a couple of months ago and it really is exciting!

Site Note:  If you haven`t applied for your EIN# yet, it`s really no big deal.  You can do it free (it`s a one page very simple form) at the IRS website (or by phone):

Much Success,

Thank you MoreinStore,  much appreciated.   I filed my llc paperwork with my State & obtained my Fed ein# online - very easy.    The only thing left is that I`m not sure if I need to file a dba statement with my state.  My business is  going to be my website, but I named my llc something else.  Does anyone know if I need a dba statement?   Thanks.

Though I am not an attorney (and have never played one on TV ) I believe you only need a DBA (Doing Business As) if you are a Sole Propietor.  Since you have an LLC, you don`t need a DBA.  Have you ever checked out www.FindLaw.com?  My cousin (who IS an attorney) recommends this site for free advice, forms and contracts.  You may find the answer there. . .

Best,
Stephanie

Hi Gags,
Just saw your post asking about "dba". I don`t remember
anything about a "dba" in all the paperwork and research I did for my "llc".

My business name is " ocean county support center for home and business"
and my website is called "tomsriverconcierge.com". My business registration
is under my business name.  If you find out otherwise pls let me know, thanks

You only need a DBA if you are going to be doing business in a name other that what you registered your LLC as.  For instance if you registered your LLC as Spanky`s Product Development, LLC.  but plan on selling your products as Spanky`s Lawn Mowers, your LLC would have to get a DBA for Spanky`s Lawn Mowers.
