The most common and frequently repeated (simple) answer is that a business has two possible choices to acquire capital - either debt or equity. Like most "simple" answers this is a bit incomplete and has some inconsistencies. The phrase "selling equity" is used when it might be more accurate to say "selling a security". However, some debt instruments are a security. So it really isn`t exactly an either / or situation.

When we looked at the different methods and sources - we determined that there are upwards of 50 ways (strategies) for acquiring capital. Your optimum strategy is the one that fits your specific situation - use of funds, stage of business, personal style, future needs, etc.

Not sure about the smoking gun - but certainly there is no "one size fits all" funding solution. However, depending upon the specific situation, there are usually some viable options - given proper preparation.

I am looking for some start up finance. I am located in Belize City. I`m planning to open up my own resort in the Caribbean. I am a college about to graduate in May 2008. i have my Ideas And still Doing the finishing on my business planns and i really want to help my fmily improve our standard of living includingstanding on my own. So im looking for a person who could halp me witht he money and will get it back by being a 30% ownr of the business and im asking to please help. The resort will be a good iea being that the lasrgest money making industry in my community is the tourism industry and we are still in bad debt but im doing this also to provide jobs for the jobless and to start on my ten year goal. please assist me. Thank you.

Their web site indicates they provide micro-loans, but I couldn`t find any indication of the amounts available. Do you know what range of loans are available from them?

what im sking people is that can i find someone here that can put he money to the business for it to start up and can get it back by a yearly 30 percent of when the business is up? can anyone be off assistance.

Brian,

Although your post is clearly designed to promote your "business" - I`d like to respond to your "line of credit is better that investors" point.

Over the years, we`ve identified about 50 methods for bringing capital into a business. It`s also clear that there is no one best way to acquire capital.
