Hello all.

I think this is a great resource.  Check out Kickstarter.  If you have an interesting project, product or start-up, you can get funding for it by simply offering rewards to contributors.

There are many successful examples where project submissions only requested a few thousand dollars and the pledges that were received far exceeded the project goal.

Here is an example where an industrial designer has a $15,000 goal and his product is so interesting, it winds up receiving $941k in pledges.  Yes - this may not be ordinary but there are many other projects in there as well.

By the way - I have no affiliation with Kickstarter.  I just think this is an awesome idea.

Crowd sourcing is becoming a more popular way of funding small or start up businesses.  Plus, in order to stay away from SEC rules and regulations - most companies do not have to give up equity for the investment - which is nice.

But, I doubt the $941K is hardly the average - would like to know what the average amount raised is.
